Durante dos semanas los estudiantes de la Universidad del Rosario pudieron vivir una experiencia internacional sin salir del país.

Del 01 de Junio y hasta el 17 de junio, en la sexta versión de la Escuela de Verano 59 estudiantes de la Escuela de administración se transportaron a las aulas de clase las mejores universidades del mundo, viviendo una gran experiencia, y adquiriendo los conocimientos más actuales de la disciplina de la administración.

En la Escuela de Verano participaron estudiantes de la Universidad del Rosario de diferentes facultades, como la de Economía, que pudieron aprovechar la excelente calidad y preparación académica de los profesores participantes. Así mismo, las clases fueron dictadas totalmente en ingles lo cual les permitió practicar el idioma y simular lo que sería una clase en una escuela internacional.

En esta nueva versión, los profesores internacionales provinieron de universidades como Tulane University, Erasmus University, EM Lyon, IESE y Washington State University.

Los asistentes recibieron un título de Diplomado en Negocios Internacionales por parte de la Dirección de Educación Continuada de la Universidad.

La Escuela de Verano ofreció herramientas a los estudiantes para enfrentar los retos de un mundo cada vez más globalizado sacando el mayor provecho del mismo.

 

 

The School of Management of Universidad del Rosario presents the fourth versión of its Summer School, that would take place in bogotá, from May to 26th to June 10th of 2014.

As in former versions, professors from the best business schools around the world would participate in this program whose main objetive is to offer an international experience to the participants.

James Holt
Washington State University

Dr. James R. Holt is a Clinical Professor of Engineering Management at Washington State University focusing on practical application of Organizational Behavior, Operations Research, Statistics, Engineering Economics, Simulation, Information Systems, Constraints Management to better organizations and complex systems. Dr. Holt is certified in the TOC Thinking Process, TOC Operations Management, TOC Project Management and TOC Holistic Strategy by the Theory of Constraints International Certification Organization (TOCICO). He chaired the Board of Directors for TOCICO, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Eliyahu M. Goldratt Foundation, a philanthropic group for the development of new TOC knowledge. He is happily married to Suzanne for 42+ years;  they have five children and twelve grandchildren.

Dimitrios Tsgadis
Hull University

Following the completion of a BSc in Information Technology under an EU ERASMUS scholarship in 1993, Dr Tsagdis read for an MA in Administrative Management under the Humberside Training and Enterprise Council’s funding. He then pursued a PhD in Process and Knowledge Management at Lincoln University under a research grant from the National Scholarship Foundation of Greece. In 1999, before completing his PhD he started working full time as a Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School at the International Business Unit. In 2001 he received his PhD title and in 2003 was appointed as a lecturer at Hull University Business School where he helped develop the MRes and International Business programmes; he has lead the latter ever since.

Angela Espinosa
Hull University

Angela Espinosa was born in Bogota, Colombia; she graduated as a computer and systems engineer (1981) from Los Andes, University and got a PhD onOrganisational Cybernetics from Aston Business School, UK in 1995. She has taught systems and cybernetics in Los Andes University (Engineering Faculty, 1994-2001);  in Hull University Business School (2002-2014);  and as a visiting professor at Los Andes School of Management (2009-2014). She has also provided consultancy for both private and public organizations, and published extensively in journal papers and books on the application of cybernetics and systems thinking. In the last decade, she has focused her research on complexity and sustainability, specifically on self-organisation in SMEs, communities and networks.

Alexander Garrido
Warwick University

Alexander Garrido is currently a Ph.D candidate in Engineering (Major in Logistics) in the Warwick Manufacturing Group of Warwick University (UK). He earned a B.Eng. in Industrial Engineering (UDFJC) and M.Sc. in Industrial Economics (UNAL). Currently, his research focus on the resilience of military supply chains. Besides the above, he was visiting scholar at Harvard University (David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies) and is accredited as PMP® from the Project Management Institute (US)

Andrew Henley
Aberyswyth University

Professor Andrew Henley has a bachelor's degree in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham, UK, and masters and doctorate from the University of Warwick, UK. He has almost 30 years experience of university teaching at all levels, and has published over 50 research articles in leading academic journals in economics and management. His particular research expertise is in entrepreneurship, ethics and regional economics. He was Dean of the Business School at Swansea University, UK from 2004 to 2008; and is currently full professor in entrepreneurship and regional economic development at Aberystwyth University in the UK (Wales); as well as serving as Director (Dean) of the Institute of Management, Law and Information Science at that university. He has recently undertaken extensive work on leadership and strategy with small and medium sized entreprise owners in Wales, directing a major programme funded by the European Union. He has served as an advisor to government, including to the First Minister of the regional government in Wales for 10 years, and for the UK's Economic and Social Research Council.

Cinzia Parolini

Graduated in Business Administration at Bocconi University in 1983.

From 1998 to 2002 Associate Professor at the Bocconi University. Since November 2002 Full Professor of Business Administration at Modena and Reggio Emilia University – Department of Economics.

Currently she teaches Business Administration and Business Planning at Modena University and at Bocconi University. Since 1984 she collaborates with the Business School of Bocconi University, teaching in executive and master courses.

Graduated in Business Administration at Bocconi University in 1983.

From 1998 to 2002 Associate Professor at the Bocconi University. Since November 2002 Full Professor of Business Administration at Modena and Reggio Emilia University – Department of Economics.

Currently she teaches Business Administration and Business Planning at Modena University and at Bocconi University. Since 1984 she collaborates with the Business School of Bocconi University, teaching in executive and master courses.

Main research areas: models for strategic analysis, business planning, strategic impact of new technologies, competitive strategies and network strategies in the content industries.

Malcolm Kirkup

Malcolm’s career encompasses teaching, research and programme management at five major UK business schools Cranfield, Aston, Loughborough, Birmingham and Lancaster), commercial marketing positions with Sears plc and extensive marketing consultancy. At Loughborough (1992-1999) he directed the UK’s first commercially-sponsored Retail Management degree in association with Sainsburys and C&A. At Birmingham (1999-2003) he developed and directed the UK’s largest specialist Masters in Marketing. At Lancaster (2004-2007) he was Director of the MBA, at a time when the programme rose to a position of 27th in the FT Global MBA rankings. In 2007 he returned to Birmingham to launch a range of specialist masters degrees in marketing, including the unique MSc Strategic Marketing and Consulting programme.

Malcolm retains an active interest in marketing consultancy and clients have included Yellow Pages, Barclaycard, Blue Martini Software, British Technology Group, C&A Europe, Dorothy Perkins, Conchango, Ford, Holsten Pils, Massey Ferguson, Next, Schering, Sears, Synovate Retail Performance, O2, Helix, Orange, Carphone Warehouse and Hobbs. In recent commercial consultancy assignments he has (with Dr Tim Denison) pioneered the application of electronic infra-red and video-surveillance techniques to understand consumer navigational strategies in retail stores, and advises organisations on approaches to the measurement of in-store service and conversion. Malcolm’s international experience includes teaching marketing in France, Russia and Singapore and commercial research in Canada, Germany, Pakistan and Thailand.

Mark Govers

Dr. Mark JG Govers (45) is an out-of-the-box thinker from The Netherlands with a PhD in management sciences. He works at the intersection between developing, applying and teaching knowledge focused on socio-technical and theory of constraint thinking.

Since 2006, he is an academic scholar at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. As (visiting) professor, he lectures information, management and organizational science in The Netherlands and in Colombia and Peru. Besides his academic work, he is a senior advisor at his own consultancy firm called Archypel Consulting. Projects are related to re-balancing the intersection between structures, cultures, people and IT systems. Besides projects, he enjoys helping managers and leaders with organizational and managerial issues. He is well known for giving challenging and entertainment lectures and workshops, which he calls “knowledge-tainment”.

Emilio del Castillo

Emilio del Castillo has 22 years of professional experience having worked mainly for multinational companies as Procter & Gamble and Kimberly-Clark in the areas of business development, marketing, general management and international consulting, and in several sectors such as FMCG, pharmaceuticals, energy, mining, transportation, import/export and executive education.

He has lived and developed businesses in Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom and since 2010 in Latin America, based in Bogota, with primary focus in Colombia and Peru. In 2012 he founded his own company “Opening Latam SAS”, an international consultancy firm dedicated to support foreign firms to start and develop their international operations in Latin America.

Emilio is Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA from ESADE Business School (Barcelona, Spain) and holds a Global Executive MBA from Georgetown University (Washington DC, USA). He currently chairs the ESADE Alumni Chapter in Colombia and collaborates as a freelance consultant with ESADE Business School and Georgetown University in Colombia.

Reid Click

Reid W. Click is Associate Professor of International Business and International Affairs at George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he teaches courses in international financial management, macroeconomics for the global economy, and international economics. He is also Director of the George Washington Center for International Business Education and Research (GW-CIBER).

An expert on international financial risk and risk management, his academic research been published in leading journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies. He is currently serving as Associate Editor in the field of international finance for the Journal of Asian Economics, and as an advisor to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of Development Credit on matters pertaining to international financial risk and risk management.

He has held visiting positions in research organizations around the world, most recently as a Fulbright Scholar at the Asian Institute of Management in Manila, The Philippines, for 2009-2010. He received M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics and International Business from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Veneta Andonova

Veneta Andonova is Associate Professor of Business at the American University in Bulgaria. She got her Ph.D. degree in Management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain. Before joining AUBG she had been a full-time faculty at top business schools in Latin America. Currently she is leading the Entrepreneurship program sponsored by CITI bank Bulgaria. Her research was published in Journal of Development Economics, Management Research, Journal of Socio-economics, Telecommunications Policy, Review of Law and Economics among others.

Bilgehan Uzunca

Bilgehan Uzunca is a PhD candidate in the Strategic Management Department of IESE Business School/Barcelona, Spain. He earned a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree from Middle East Technical University (METU)/Ankara, Turkey. His research interests have centered on the strategic management with a particular focus on areas like economics of strategy and innovation, industry evolution, submarkets, entry/exit, new venture formation, and spinoffs.

Charles Spence

Professor Charles Spence holds a PhD form Oxford University. He is the head of the Crossmodal Research Laboratory at the Department of Experimental Psychology of this University. His research is focused in packaging innovation, sensory marketing, neuromarketing, as well as to the latest in contemporary consumer psychology. He has acted as a consultant for a number of multinational companies advising on various aspects of multisensory design, packaging, branding, marketing, and atmospherics over the past decade and has published more than 350 articles in top-flight scientific journals over the last decade.

Kristian Sund

Dr. Kristian J. Sund is a Principal Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Strategic Management at Middlesex University Business School, in London. He teaches strategic management at both undergraduate and MBA levels. He leads the online distance-learning MBA in Shipping & Logistics at Middlesex and has been involved in executive education for close to ten years, both as an educator and a program director. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has featured in the Who's Who in the World since 2011. He has authored five books and numerous academic papers on strategic management, innovation and organizational cognition. He is a member of the Advisory Council of the Royal Mail Group. Kristian holds a Ph.D. in Management and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Lausanne and a M.A. in Society, Science and Technology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), where he also completed his post-doc.

Enrique Mu

Enrique Mu, holds a Ph.D. from Pittsburgh University and a M.S form the same University. He is the director of the Managerial Training Program for Latin American Executives (PROCAGE) at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as MBA Program Director at Carlow University. His research interests are in the area of managerial cognition, decision making, IT management, and the Assimilation of Information Technology in organizations. His work has been published in the Journal of Multi-criteria Decision Analysis, Journal of Decision Systems, Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering, and other academic outlets. He was recently awarded a proclamation by the City of Pittsburgh for leading the decision-making process to select a suitable Cloud Technology for the city.

Matt Allen

Matt R. Allen is an Assistant Professor in the Entrepreneurship Division and Research Director for the STEP Project at Babson College. He earned his B.A. from the University of Utah, M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and Ph.D. from Cornell University. His expertise is in the effective management of human capital within entrepreneurial environments, especially family enterprise. In addition to working with his father (Ray H. Allen & Associates) as an accountant and consultant to family businesses and other privately held organizations, he has held positions in corporate finance at IBM and Hewlett Packard. He teaches entrepreneurship and family entrepreneurship courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, Professor Allen has been involved in executive education programs across the world with a special interest in Latin America.

Nancy Adler

B.A. en Economía, M.B.A. y Doctorado en la Gestión de la Universidad de California en Los Ángeles (UCLA).

Actualmente es Presidenta de la Cátedra Bronfman S. en Gestión de la Universidad McGill en Montreal, Canadá. Lleva a cabo investigación y consultoría en liderazg y gestión intercultural. Es autora de más de 125 artículos y publicado 10 libros y volúmenes editados, incluyendo, From Boston to Beijing: Managing with a Worldview, International Dimensions of Organizational Behavior (5 ediciones), Women in Management Worldwide, y Competitive Frontiers: Women Managers in a Global Economy.

Realiza consultoría a corporaciones privadas y organizaciones gubernamentales en proyectos en África, Asia, Europa, América del Norte y del Sur y el Oriente Medio. Ha sido profesora de ejecutivos chinos de la República Popular de China, presidió la Cátedra Doctoral de Profesor Visitante de Citicorp  en la Universidad de Hong Kong, y  ha enseñado seminarios ejecutivos en el INSEAD en Francia, la Universidad de Oxford en Inglaterra, y la Universidad Bocconi en Italia. Recibió el Premio Distinguido de la Universidad McGill de Enseñanza en la gestión y fue una de las pocas en recibirlo una segunda vez. Fue reconocida como una de las mejores profesores en Canadá al ser elegida 3M Teaching Fellow.

Ha recibido, entre otros reconocimientos, el Premio Québec y el Premio anual de la revista "Academy of Management", y la revista Forbes la ha calificado como una de las “grandes del management”, a la altura de famosos gurús como Henry Mintzberg o Peter Drucker.


Soumitra Dutta

PhD en Ciencias de la computación, Maestría en Administración de Empresas de la Universidad de California en Berkeley.

Soumitra Dutta es el Director de la Cátedra Roland Berger de Negocios y Tecnología y el director académico de la iniciativa elab@INSEAD, la iniciativa de INSEAD en la construcción de un centro de excelencia para la enseñanza y la investigación de la economía digital (http://elab.insead.edu).

Antes de unirse al INSEAD en 1989, trabajó en Schlumberger en Japón y General Electric en los EE.UU..  Ha sido profesor visitante en varias universidades internacionales, incluyendo la Universidad de California en Berkeley, Oxford y Cambridge.

Su investigación actual se centra en la estrategia de la tecnología y la innovación, tanto a nivel de políticas corporativas y nacionales. Sus últimos libros son "Innovate at the top" (Palgrave, 2009), "Throwing Sheep in the Boardroom" (Wiley, 2008) y "The Global Information Technology Report 2008-2009: Movilidad en un mundo en red" (Foro Económico Mundial 2009 ). Ha co-autor de diez libros, incluyendo "The bright stuff" (Financial Times / Prentice Hall, 2002), "Embracing the net" (Financial Times, 2001) y "Process Reengineering, Organizational Change and Performance Improvement" (Mc-Graw Hill, 1999). Bartholomew Timm

MBA de la Universidad de Notre Dame, Pregrado en  biología con honores de Hiram College en Ohio.

Bartholomew Timm es el director ejecutivo del MBA Program en la Universidad George Washington, así como profesor en la Universidad de Georgetown, Washington, DC, en las áreas de pregrado, posgrado y educacion ejecutiva. Se especializa en la gestión del cambio, el equipo y dinámicas de grupo, el liderazgo eficaz, la planificación estratégica, soluciones de rentabilidad y el desarrollo empresarial sin fines de lucro, y la rotación de la contratación y dotación de personal.

Su experiencia en los últimos veinticinco años incluye cargos ejecutivos en AT & T, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Grubb & Ellis y Georgetown University Medical Center. También se ha desempeñado como Director Ejecutivo del Cardiovascular and Renal Georgetown Medical Center, Instituto donde supervisó todas las actividades de gestión, el crecimiento y la financiación, y como oficial en servicio activo en la Armada de los Estados Unidos.
