Amnesty International (AI)

Amnesty International (commonly known as Amnesty or AI) is an international non-governmental organization which defines its mission as "to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights."Founded in the UK in 1961, AI draws its attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international standards. It works to mobilize public opinion which exerts pressure on individuals who perpetrate abuses.

El Criminalista Digital offers a selection of the best resources in Internet related to the penal Right and Criminology, as well as an extensive collection of inline journals on legal matters.

Electronic Journals Library

The Electronic Journals Library offers an effective use of both scientific and academic journals publishing full text articles in the internet. This service has been developed at the University Library of Regensburg in cooperation with the University Library of the Technical University of Munich.

Human Rights Watch (HRW)

Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world.

HRW stands with victims and activists to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice. Also, investigates and exposes human rights violations and hold abusers accountable.

HRW challenges governments and those who hold power to end abusive practices and respect international human rights law, and enlist the public and the international community to support the cause of human rights for all.

The Internet Public Library (IPL) is a non-profit, largely student-run website at Drexel University. The IPL was founded at the University of Michigan’s School of Information. IPL includes directories of online texts, newspapers, magazines, reference materials and other special sections.

International Court of Justice

The Court is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It was established by the United Nations Charter, signed in 1945 at San Francisco (United States), and began work in 1946 in the Peace Palace, The Hague (Netherlands).

The Court, which is composed of 15 judges, has a dual role: in accordance with international law, settling legal disputes between States submitted to it by them and giving advisory opinions on legal matters referred to it by duly authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies.

Juricol is a documentary legal information system of historical character, which compiles, systematizes and analyzes the laws, decrees of general character, the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court and the norms and jurisprudence of the high courts related to the Banco de la Republica since it was created in 1923. Juriscol offers a free updated database that can be consulted online.

Political Database of the Americas

The Political Database of the Americas (PDBA) is a non-governmental project of the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at Georgetown University in collaboration with institutions like the Secretariat for Political Affairs of the Organization of American States and FLACSO-Chile, and also with the support of other organizations and entities in the region.

Through its website, the PDBA offers centralized and systematized information about institutions and political processes, national constitutions, branches of government, elections, political constitutional studies and other subjects related to the strengthening of democracy in the region. With more than 1,500 pages of information, the PDBA is one of the most preferred sources of political information on the Internet reaching more than 600,000 users per month.
