WORKINNOVA 2015 English Version

For the first time in Bogota, we organize the workshop WORKINNOVA, which has been conducted annually since 2012 in Brazil and Colombia. WORKINNOVA is a pioneering and unique joint initiative from Danish and South American research groups and industry to bridge the gap between research and their industrial applications with the aim to tackle social relevant problems and generate new business.

The lectures will be given by researcher from Colombia, Denmark, Brazil and Ireland, as well as agents of governmental institutions and business experts in innovation, social and business development.

Our focus will be issues related to science and biomedical engineering, the future of mobile and wireless technologies and workshop in problem solutions, creativity and innovations process.

Shlomo has over 10 years of successful international experience in implementing innovation processes. Currently holds the role of director of R + D + i bow Consulting. He is co-creator of InnovaciónCONsentido method, which puts innovation at the service of what matters to people. Shlomo is restless entrepreneur, accompanying several initiatives in several markets. It has applied for more than a decade Systematic methodology Inventive Thinking (SIT). Shlomo has accompanied various organizations in the private, public and social sectors for the development of management systems of innovation, training and facilitation of internal innovative ideation process focused on problem solving, new product development, process innovation and strategy as well as in the conceptualization and activation of radical ideas to improve the performance of organizations. Mario Valderrama is professor at the biomedical engineering department at Universidad de los Andes. Mario is en electric engineer, with master in electric engineer from Universidad de los Andes. He has a master in mathematics and informatics from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble, France and a PhD from the Univeristy Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris. In his PhD he focuses in the different aspects of the brain activity from EEG signals in the context of epilepsy and sleep. He is the leader of the research group of analysis of brain rhythms from mathematical and computational models.

Jose Antonio Ramirez Latorre is physicist at the Universidad de los Andes, did his PhD at college of California, Berkeley. He was a postdoc and Senior Scientist at Columbia University, he is currently a professor at the Universidad del Rosario. His areas of interest are: Biophysics, Neurobiology, Linux and Art History.

Dr. Adriana Maria is an occupational therapist from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, specialist in Bioengineering at the University Francisco José de Caldas, Master of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Rosario - Universidad de los Andes, and PhD of Science in Rehabilitation University from the Univerity of Alberta - Canada. Her research interests are oriented to the development, implementation and evaluation of technologies for people on disability status. Among its most important research are: 1) the development of the first patent of the Universidad del Rosario for a chair that encourages upright sitting position in children with neurological disease; 2) the development of clinical evidence that robots increase the ability to play in children with cerebral palsy and 3) the development of the guidelines of the Ministry of Health of Bogotá, for the provision of technologies for people with disabilities.

Entrepreneur, executive consultant and technology in areas of software and business solutions. As an entrepreneur he has participated in the creation and development of different companies. The latest Lexica is the most interesting with the potential to revolutionize the software industry adventure. Previously founded Palmtree Consulting, which grew under his management position 10 years as a leading provider of business improvement in technology, conducting more than 300 projects in 8 countries, before being acquired in part by EY. He has been a lecturer and instructor at events in San Francisco, New York, Argentina, Ecuador and Colombia, on various topics such as Entrepreneurship, Development and Customer Management Software.

Idelfonso Tafur Monroy is currently a Professor and the Head of the Metro-Access and Short Range Systems group of the Department of Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark. He graduated from the Bonch-Bruevitch Institute of Communications, St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1992, where he received a M.Sc. degree in multichannel telecommunications. In 1996 he received a Technology Licentiate degree in telecommunications theory from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. In the same year he joined the Electrical Engineering Department of the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, where he earned a Ph.D. degree in 1999 and worked as an Assistant Professor until 2006. He has participated in several European research framework projects in photonic technologies and their applications to communication systems and networks. At the moment he is involved in the ICT European projects GigaWaM and EURO-FOS and is the technical coordinator of the CHRON project. His research interests are in hybrid optical–wireless communication systems, high-capacity optical fiber communications, digital signal processing for optical transceivers for baseband and radio-over-fiber links, application of nanophotonic technologies in the metropolitan and access segments of optical networks as well as in short range optical–wireless communication links

Sandro Jiménez Ocampo: President & Co-Founder of AcademyTic (www.academytic.co /AcademyTic). Founder of the Platform KolaborAccion (www.kolaboraccion.net /kolaboraccion); PhD in Social Sciences, option Political Studies (FLACSO System), Master of Social Development (University of North), Maitrise in Educational Sciences (University Paris XII) and Industrial Engineer with major on Information Technology (National University Colombia). Professional with 20 years experience, developed in 7 countries; 15 years in applied research on development issues in Latin America; extensive experience in project design, fundraising, both national and international, research training, knowledge and innovation management.

Neil Guerrero Gonzalez is an Electronic Engineer and Master in Industrial Automation from the National University of Colombia in 2005 and 2007 respectively. In March of 2011, Neil got his PhD degree in Photonics Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Neil received the honorable mention in the 2011 Corning Outstanding Student Paper Competition in OFC 2011. During March and August of 2011, Neil was associated as a postdoctoral researcher to DTU - Fotonik in the framework of the FP7 European project CHRON. After the Postdoctoral experience in DTU, Neil joined as Optical Researcher the division of optical communication technologies of the Huawei – European Research Center in Munich (Germany) in 2012. The division of optical technologies was awarded in 2013 with the Huawei Gold Medal for their outstanding performance. Afterwards, Neil moved to the Brazilian Research and Development Center of telecommunications, CPqD (Campinas, Brazil) to take the position of manager of the division of optical communication systems between 2013 and 2014. Since March 2015, Dr. Guerrero is associated as Postdoctoral Researcher to the Photonic Systems Group at the Tyndall National Institute, in Cork (Ireland). His research interests include coherent optical communication, digital signal processing and hybrid fiber-wireless communication systems.

José Alejandro Cheyne García, dean of de business school of Universidad del Rosario, is Doctor of Pedagogy from UPAEP University, Mexico; Economist and Specialist in Business Administration and University Teaching at the Universidad del Rosario; Before joining the University, he served as Rector of Fundación Universitaria Empresarial de la Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá (Uniempresarial. He was Vice-Dean of the School of Economics of the University Sergio Arboleda, Director of Business Advisory Unit of Universidad del Rosario and Coordinator of Specialization in the Sabana University. He has achieved throughout his career the following awards:

Professor Sergio Pulgarin is Business Administrator and Master in Business Management, Master of Business Administration and is currently a doctoral candidate in management science. Parallel to teaching, his professional experience primarily focuses on the sector of information and communication technologies; for three years he was director of quality services for Colombia of the company Norman Data Defense, later he created TIC Advisors a company dedicated to the development of telecommunications solutions for the company, which has handled more than 600 projects in different companies in Colombia . In academia, he has been director of the Business Development Center of the University Konrad Lorenz in Colombia, professor at levels of undergraduate, specialization and master in various universities in the country and currently research professor at the School of Management at the University of Rosario where Its main areas of work are corporate strategy and innovation.

Professional in Social-Communication and Journalism with Emphasis in Business Communication from Universidad Externado de Colombia; PhD in Communication Sciences of the Faculty of Information Sciences and Political Sciences at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) and the Spanish Center for Latin American Studies (CEDEAL).

Carlos  was born in Bogota, Colombia. In 2004, he received the BSc degree in Electronic Engineering from Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería (ECI-Colombia), where he received the grade of honor, awarded to the highest GPA of his class. He received his Specialization in Project Management in 2006 at ECI. From 2006 to 2011 he worked as a professor and a researcher in hardware development and embedded systems. In 2011, he obtained his M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos, Argentina. As a continuation of his master’s dissertation, he developed a Sensor-based biomechanical kinematics monitoring system for physical rehabilitation, with this project, he was one of the 10 finalist at the Make It Challenge: Kinetis MCUs Americas sponsored by Freescale semiconductors. In 2012, he joined the Robotics and Industrial Automation Group at Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES-Brazil) to pursue the Ph.D. degree. He developed a part of his thesis at Automation Institute, (UNSJ-Argentina) and at Neural and Cognitive Engineering group, CAR, (UPM-CSIC-Spain). His Ph.D. thesis (2015) focused on development a multimodal human-robot interface that provides a means of testing and validating control strategies for robotic walkers for assisting human mobility and gait rehabilitation. Currently, He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at UFES.

He is broadly interested in wearable sensors, human-robot interaction and rehabilitation robotics. He has also conducted research on hardware and software development for robotics, medical images and signal processing.

Received in 1986 the B.S. degree in Physics from University of São Paulo (USP) and Sc.D. degree also in Physics from University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 1992. From 1992 to 1995, he was at the advanced photonics department at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Holmdel-NJ, involved in projects as "High speed soliton optical switching", "Optoelectrical quantum well device and optical image processing" and "Femtosecond wavelength division multiplexing".

In 1996, he joined as professor the Physics Institute of University of Brasilia, Brasilia, where he founded the Photonics Group. Since 2003 he is professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Mackenzie Presbyterian University. His main interests are Graphene photonics and ultrafast sources for optical communications.

Biologist at the Javeriana University, Doctor of Engineering Systems and Computing at the National University of Colombia. He has experience in data analysis for scientific research projects and the productive sector particularly on issues such as biological and medical sciences, biotechnology, information technology and information, free culture and the issues of e-learning, the use of information technology in education. Interested intellectual property, identify, protect and negotiate IP Surveillance technology, management, planning, construction and closure of projects related to ICT and digital culture.

Luis Eduardo Rodriguez Cheu Electrical Engineering from the Colombian School of Engineering, Master in Electronic Engineering from the University of the Andes, Doctor of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Professor and Director of the research group BIOECI and Dean of the Biomedical Engineering program of the Colombian School of Engineering Julio Garavito. While conducting his doctoral studies he was a research assistant at the Center for Biomedical Engineering Research CREB (Polytechnic University of Catalonia - Spain) and Grins group (Industrial Robotics at UPC). Director of projects in the area of rehabilitation Rehabilitation centers worldwide as the SAT (mutual accident Sabadell), Hospital Vall Hebron and San Joan de Deu in Barcelona Spain. The research area corresponds to the Medical Robotics with emphasis in nursing care and rehabilitation.

Mathematician from Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia, graduated in 2006. Winner of a grant from the European Community in the Erasmus Mundus masters program: ALGANT in algebra, geometry and number theory at University of Bordeaux I, France (2007) and Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy (2008). In November 2011 she obtained her PhD in applied mathematics, in the area of post-quantum cryptography from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU). In 2012 she was a postdoctoral researcher at the laboratory GREYC Université de Caen Normandie, France in the AMMAC team. In 2013 she was a postdoctoral researcher at the department of mathematics at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota. Since January 2014 she is assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia. Her research areas of interest are cryptography, coding theory and its applications.

Electronics Engineer from Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, specialist in Industrial Automation at the same university, Master in Electronic Engineering - Telecommunication from Universidad de los Andes. Doctor of Biomedical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He has been a professor at Universidad Nacional, Distrital and Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, among others.

Antonio Miguel Cruz, Distinguished Professor at the University of Rosario, 2012. It is the current co-director of the Program of Biomedical Engineering, School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Universidad del Rosario. Has a degree in Nuclear Engineering obtained at the Higher Institute of Nuclear Sciences and Technologies in Havana, Cuba. He also holds a Master of Science in Bioengineering area, the Higher Polytechnic Institute Jose Antonio Echeverria (ISPJAE), Havana, Cuba. Obtained his PhD in Bioengineering ISPJAE, in 2003. In 2004 makes a postdoctoral fellow at the Hospital for Children in Toronto Shick. Currently she is pursuing postdoctoral studies at the University of Alberta. Edmonton. Canada.

AAndrea Avila, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Rosario. With over 10 years experience in the management, development, planning and strengthening of institutions, programs, projects and services for entrepreneurship, business and social development in public and private institutions. Business Administrator Externado University of Colombia with a specialization in Marketing from CESA trained in entrepreneurship development programs, leadership, entrepreneurship and education models in Asia, Europe and North America. Experience as an entrepreneur and jury, mentor and teacher of entrepreneurship programs.
