About Colombia
Located on the north western extreme of South America, Colombia is the only country in the subcontinent with coastlines both on the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. It has a territorial surface of 1,141,748 sq. km, and 928,660 sq. km on the sea area. It borders with Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador, and in the seas with Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

It lies between the 4° south and 12° north latitude degrees, and between the 67° and 79° longitude degrees. Lying in the equator line, its climate is determined by the trade winds, by humidity and the different heights over the sea level. It has a bimodal season pattern, and over almost the whole territory there are two rain periods –April through June and August through November-, as well as two summer periods. The country has constant luminosity the whole year through with the same daylight and night light hours. |
