Concepts and Tools for the Construction of a Peace Culture

In the context of the signed agreements implementation between the Colombian State and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) tending toward the establishment of a "stable and lasting" peace, the questions and challenges posed by this process are very important, especially from the day to day spaces and the ownership from the citizens' side. In this sense, this course seeks to provide training in the development of skills tending towards the construction of a peace culture in specific environments (local, regional, professional, among others) through the proposal formulation exercise guided by the concepts and debates on armed conflict, transitional justice, memory, territorial peace, among other topics.

Cultural activity with the Vertigo Graffiti group (https://www.facebook.com/vertigograffiti/), which since 2008 promotes graffiti to turn it into an artistic expression of high social impact. The idea of the activity is to show the transformation of the urban art perception, from being stigmatized as an activity that breaks the values' fabric and the aesthetics of the city, which becomes one of the positive transformation means of urban spaces, and that it constitutes one of the construction edges for a peace culture in Colombia.

Because Urban art, had been marginalized and persecuted, reaching such unfortunate levels as the murder of the artist Diego Felipe Becerra by the police force in 2011, has gradually become both a tourist attraction of the city and a form of aesthetic intervention for the solution of social conflicts in different places of the city. The aesthetic project continues to grow and little by little it is permeating other social spheres such as advertising, transforming the social perception of urban art, generating tolerance and strengthening the social fabric. An example of the growth of the impact of graffiti is public support for the promotion and practice of this type of art (http://www.idartes.gov.co/es/areas-artisticas/artes-plasticas-y-visuales/distrito -graffiti).
