Psychology for Peace

Transforming cultural and institutional contexts is a complex and long process, and is fundamental to the peace-building process. In a society whose history has been so closely tied to armed conflict for so long.

In this context, educational institutions responsible for educating diverse groups of people on different subjects, values and skills, are a strategic venue for achieving necessary social transformation.

Objectives


Identify how the theoretical and practical applications of psychology contribute to understanding the problems of coexistence, conflict and living peacefully as a community.

Working with the principles of respect, wellbeing and the non-violation of rights, students will incorporate practical knowledge in order to manage social interactions ethically in their profession with individuals, groups, communities, etc. (i.e. interview techniques and community outreach.

Students will identify ways to work in the midst of conflict without resorting to violence.
