Welcome by Dean Barajas
Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2014 Annual Meetings of World Society of Ekistics to be held from Wednesday April 2nd to 5th 2014, at the Universidad Del Rosario, in Bogotá Colombia.

“Bringing Ekistics to New Generations”, is an agenda jointly designed by the Faculty and students of our Urban Management and Development – Ekistics Program.

The event, in a nutshell, is a three day gathering which includes lectures, presentations by WSE Members, round tables and discussion sessions, as well as an opportunity to interact with student projects. An interesting highlight will be a technical visit to the world renowned Transmilenio BRT system´s headquarters.

On Sunday 6th, we will be leaving Bogota in order to attend the UN-Habitat 7th World Urban Forum, held in the neighbor city of Medellin. There, we will all be able to participate in a broad array of Networking and Training events, including several where our Program is directly collaborating in with several international partner institutions.

I take this opportunity to reassure you we are committed to make our Ekistics community´s gathering a joyful experience. Safety conditions in Bogota and Medellin enjoy good standing with international institutions. Both cities have become highly appreciated by foreign investors and businesses, and more and more often these conditions are attracting international events.

On behalf of the Colombian Steering Committee and our School of Political Science and Government’s staff, I would like to express my gratitude for your full support in the organization of this year´s event.

Our warmest welcome to all.

Yours Truly

Eduardo Barajas
Dean of the School of Political Science and Government,
