José Celestino Mutis Experimental Station Headquarters
Between La Vega and Sasaima, in the department of Cundinamarca the station is located between the municipalities of La Vega and Sasaima, in the department of Cundinamarca, 1.5 hours by car from Bogotá. The property, was got in 2016 and it has 12.5 hectares and has an altitude of 1,300 meters. 80% of the land is secondary forest of coffee climate.
The main objectives of the field station are: to support research on nature; promote the sustainable coexistence of human beings with their environment; and complement the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of all the faculties and schools of the university.
It has 40 insectariums, pedestrian paths, accommodation cabins made of wood and can hold six people (these spaces have electrical installations, closets, desks and sanitary facilities), an experimental laboratory, technical rooms with power plant, parking area, among many other things.
